High snowfall totals due to a bizzard-producing Noreaster caused a State of Emergency in Pennsylvania and Delaware today. The bad weather conditions from a major winter storm that came into the Mid-Atlantic region and hit Pennsylvania caused thousands to lose electricity.

A ninth grader was shot today by another ninth grader at Discovery Middle School in Madison, Alabama, and has been transported to a local hospital, the school announced.
The boy was shot while walking down a hallway near Discovery Middle School shooting area and arrived at Huntsville Hospital around 2:20 p.m.. He is said to be in extremely critical condition.
The victim has been identified as 14-year-old Todd T. Brown.
Discovery Middle school released the following statement:
Discovery Middle School Shooting – Today, a ninth grade student at Discovery Middle School was shot by another ninth grade student. The shooting victim has been transported to the hospital. The alleged shooter is in police custody. No other students or faculty members at Discovery were harmed by the alleged shooter. Discovery Middle School students will be dismissed at regular time. Adding to Charlie Sheen’s troubles: Charlie Sheen Mercedes SUV has been found crashed in a steep ravine near his Sherman Oaks home, Los Angeles police told AP this morning.
Officer Bruce Borihanh says LAPD got a 911 report at around 4 a.m. that a car was down a cliff off Mulholland Drive. At about the same time, Charlie Sheen called to report that his SUV had been stolen. A search of the area found no evidence that anybody was in the car when it went over the edge. It’s being treated as an auto theft.

Former Indiana University basketball player and current radio announcer Todd C. Leary faces 17 felony charges in connection with a scheme to misappropriate real estate title funds.
According to court documents, Todd Leary’s former teammate, Brian Evans, cooperated with state investigators to uncover the scheme.
Todd Leary played basketball for coach Bob Knight’s Hoosiers from 1990 to 1994; the team advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 1992.
Todd Leary once worked for former title insurance broker Joseph Garretson, who pleaded guilty this week in Allen Superior Court to conversion or misappropriation of title insurance escrow funds, corrupt business influence and unlawful loan origination activities in a scheme that court documents say totaled $2.7 million in losses. An 11 year old girl in the Northeast recently gave birth to a baby boy, according to the girl’s family.
“My daughter and baby are fine, and the baby is absolutely beautiful,” stated the girl’s mother.
The girl, 11 year old and her family are not being named in order to protect the girl’s privacy.
A recent report by the Guttmacher Institute said U.S. teen pregnancies were up 3 percent in 2006.
But of course, this case is not about a teenager, Dr. Abdulla Al-Khan, a leading high-risk obstetrician noted; it’s about a pre-teen, or child, who’s body is not built to carry a child yet.
“Her body is clearly not defined for pregnancy with its short stature,” Al-Khan said. “Her chest is not extensively developed for breast tissue, her bones aren’t quite fused, and once you expose a child this young to high amounts of progesterone and especially estrogen, there is controversy that it could halt her growth.” Read the rest of this entry »
Jan Hooks a member of one of the best casts of Saturday Night Live, has made a return to TV. In this week’s episode of 30 Rock Jan Hooks plays Verna the mother of Jenna. Verna seems only interested in her daughter for the money. In tonight’s episode she comes back to make amends, or has she?
Well the episode doesn’t stand up to some of the best of 30 Rock it does shine brightly in a season that has mostly been falling flat. The humor for me never seems to be lacking but the character development has been drying up and feels formulaic. The new cast member is being underused and has yet to develop much of a personality. Brittany Murphy’s death was caused by a lethal combination of pneumonia and prescription drugs, the Los Angeles County coroner announced today.
Spokesman Craig Harvey said the primary cause of Murphy’s death was pneumonia, while iron-deficiency anemia and multiple drug intoxication also played a part. Harvey says the drugs ingested were all prescription medications. He declined to say more about what type of drugs were involved. Read the rest of this entry »
